How do I install tire chains?
Installing tire chains on one’s vehicle can be challenging. When purchasing tire chains, it is important to make certain that they fit the vehicle’s tires. The majority of tire chain packaging contains a guide providing information on the kinds of tires on which the tire chains fit. The chains are to be placed on the front tires of a front-wheel-drive vehicle, and on the rear tires of a rear-vehicle-drive vehicle.
After parking the car, engaging the parking brake and placing the car in gear, put the chain on the tire. Hold the chain from the top, and make certain that it is evenly positioned over the wheel. The lower portion of the chain is unable to cover the part of the tire that makes contact with the road. Then fit the remainder of the chain onto the wheel.
There are some chains that consist of rings that are placed on the inside of the wheel, and help direct the chains into place. When using these types of chains, make sure that the open connection is on the lower part of the wheel. After placing the chains on the tire and the ring on the inside of the wheel, connect the lower portion of the ring. This normally requires one to position oneself under the car next to the tire.
