Joliet woman sues Jewel-Osco for slip and fall accident

Slip and fall accidents can occur in many different locations, whether it is grocery stores, parking lots or restaurants. When you are injured because of someone else’s negligence, you may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit to obtain damages. A resident of Will County, Illinois, chose to do exactly that after suffering a slip and fall accident inside a grocery store.

Beverly Dixon sued Jewel-Osco in Joliet in connection with her March 2018 fall on the premises. She was a customer at the grocery store when she slipped, stumbled and fell at the main entrance.

According to court documents, Dixon fell because of sawdust that had accumulated at the entrance. She suffered serious internal and external injuries, some of which are permanent.

The lawsuit identified nine instances of negligence and carelessness. Jewel-Osco allegedly allowed the sawdust to collect, creating a hazardous situation for people walking in and out of the shopping aisle. In addition, the grocery store failed to warn Dixon about the sawdust when the store knew or should have known about the dangerous condition.
