Pedestrian dies after being struck by dump truck in crosswalk

A pedestrian who was crossing a street was killed after being hit by a dump truck in the Hermosa neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The truck accident occurred at 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dickens Avenue and Pulaski Road.

Authorities said the truck driver failed to halt at a stop sign and fatally struck the 32-year-old man, who was walking through a crosswalk. Chicago police cited the truck driver for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, not yielding to a pedestrian in the crosswalk and not stopping at a stop sign.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the truck accident. However, police covered his body with a sheet and left it in the street for four hours as they conducted their investigation.
