Illinois woman files slip and fall lawsuit against Walmart

A woman sued Walmart after suffering an injury during a visit to the store in December 2017. The lawsuit was filed at the Will County Courthouse in Joliet, Illinois.

Deborah Grover was hurt in a slip and fall accident at the Walmart store in Bolingbrook. She was walking down an aisle when she came across an area with spilled spray that caused her to slip and fall. According to the lawsuit, she was “severely and permanently injured” due to her fall.

The accident resulted in Grover incurring substantial medical bills, disability, pain and suffering, and loss of earnings on an ongoing and permanent basis. The lawsuit alleged Walmart was negligent in providing “a good, safe and proper place” for shoppers visiting the premises.

As a nationwide retail giant, Walmart has thousands of customers shopping at its stores each day. While store workers have a duty to ensure visitors are not hurt in any way, they may end up behaving carelessly by overlooking spills or failing to place warning signs on wet floors.
